easy Mac n cheese

I love Mac n cheese. I love it. I could eat it with any dinner meal. BUT, It has to be done right. You CANNOT eat every persons macaroni and cheese. You just can’t. Every person does their macaroni easy Mac n cheeseand cheese differently. The thing is some people like to put things in Macaroni and cheese that just shouldn’t be there.

Today, however, I have a super easy crock pot macaroni and cheese recipe for you. When I say easy, I mean it. It doesn’t call for a lot of ingredients. I mean there are a few things that you will need. But not much more than you would normally need for Macaroni and cheese dishes. So, Get ready to delight your taste buds.

This meal is actually about 10-12 servings. So, it is great for potlucks or when you have a lot of guests. This easy macaroni and cheese would be great for parties or for Thanksgiving dinner.

 

What you will need

3 cups of milk

1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt

pepper (pinch)

1 box of Elbow macaroni

1/4 cup of butter

8 0z of Velveeta cheese

8 oz of cheddar and mozzarella cheese

4 slices of bacon, Crispy

 

These are the easiest next steps EVER!

For this recipe you do not need to cook the macaroni. You will just pour half of the box of elbows into your crock pot.

Then mix together the 2 types of milk together with the salt and pepper.

I like to cube my Velveeta cheese. I also like to put about half of it on top of the macaroni you currently have in the crock pot.

Now add the rest of the macaroni and pour the milk over all of this. You want to try to get all the macaroni covered with milk. It’s okay if it is not all the way covered. It’s most likely not going to work anyway and that’s OK.

You will then put the rest of the cheese on top.

If you are in a rush, you can cook this on high for about an hour. If it is still milky then you can continue for another hour. But about half-way through make sure to stir it to get the cheese mixed in well.

if you have some time then you can cook it on low for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Either way you want to stir it.

I stir it often. This way I can make sure that its mixed well.

 

A few options for you

I tend to just leave mine in the crock pot. I know, lazy right? But I do. Sometimes, however, if I am feeling fancy I will put it into a serving dish. Preferably one I don’t mind putting into the refrigerator, because there are always leftovers.

 

I don’t know, about you but I am a HUGE bacon fan. So I top mine with bacon. I mean its bacon. Bacon seems to make everything better. But there are some who don’t agree, hence, why bacon says optional. So, you choose. Maybe you love bacon but just not on your mac. That’s OK too!

Another thing I would like to mention, you can put this in the oven for a little while if you would like. I know, some like to have that crust of cheese on top. That will be perfectly fine too. If you take this step I would make sure its just to melt the cheese. So maybe 30 minutes.

OK, I know, by this point your dish is still cooking so how would you know, if its the yummiest yet? I know,, I just couldn’t help but ask. I am so excited for you. I know this is not an old fashioned macaroni and cheese recipe, but, my oh my, is it just as good!

I actually think this is one of the best crock pot recipes out there. Try it! You will see!

I was horrible at Macaroni and cheese. I tried them all, three cheese crock pot macaroni, 5 cheese, baked macaroni, etc. I pretty much tried them all. There was always something wrong. It was either too dry, too moist, here’s the best one, the elbows wouldn’t be cooked all the way.

I have burned it, I have under cooked it, and I have overcooked it. As a matter of fact, just the other day I tried a different way to do my Mac n cheese and guess what? I over cooked my elbows. So, it was really bad macaroni and cheese. It was mushy. The consistency was way off.

But this recipe is almost better that the Old fashioned Macaroni and cheese you are used to. You can always go back to making your favorite Traditional mac n cheese. But if you want to start using that crock pot or just want a yummy creamy crock pot mac n cheese give this one a shot.

You know, I was just thinking about making this in my crock pot and stumbled upon your post – interesting, right? I didn’t know that you put the noddles in uncooked. I wondered about that. Live and learn. It’s like you read my mind. I have to try this recipe. Thanks!

I am a sucker for a simple no work recipe especially a crockpot one you prepare and leave. I can’t tell you how much I loved the concept of that recipe. I am going to have to cook that! As soon as possible.lol. I genuinely found it very easy to follow. I have had friends that couldn’t boil water. If they tried they would have burned down the kitchen. I bet you they could even cook this mac and cheese.

    Omg your comment is so funny. “They couldn’t boil water?” lol. I remember a day where I was the same way. I burned rice so many times it was ridiculous. Oh and breakfast? forget about it. I probably still have remnants of charcoal colored bacon somewhere in my belly. lol but yes this is so easy. I have a Love for easy cooking that will never go away. Stay tuned I will have more crockpot recipes. And not boring ones either. I think you”ll find some fun meals here. Thank you for commenting.
