So, I don’t know if you are on Facebook. But if you are, I am quite sure that you have seen the wonderful, mouth watering videos from Tasty. I think that I have tried so many of their recipes it’s crazy. They don’t just make food that looks good. They make food that is…well…tasty.
I don’t know if this particular recipe is in their book. But I do know that there is a video and they have a blog. You should definitely check them out if you haven’t already. I absolutely love them. The people at Tasty come up with the best recipes. I plan to try as many of them as I can.
So this recipe is their Strawberry Cheesecake Roll recipe. It’s soooo good. It’s so Light and so mmm mm.! lol! its hard to even describe the party that happens in your mouth. I mean in a matter of about a 160 words into this, I have already decided I am making this tonight.
As soon as I am done with this, I am going to get my missing ingredients.
What you will need
for the cake 1 1/2 cups of sugar
2 table spoons of oil
2 teaspoons of baking powder
!/2 a teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of vanilla.
1 1/2 cup of flour
for the filling
2 cups of strawberries, sliced
8oz of cream cheese, soft
1/4 cup of powdered sugar
! tablespoon of vanilla
Let’s get started
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Put all 6 eggs into a bowl and whisk for about 2 minutes.
Pour in the sugar, whisk together well
Whisk in the remaining cake ingredients.
Once these are mixed together well, add the flour.
Please do not mix his in with a mixer. I have learned after many tries not to over mix this together. I mean it can be done. But just folding in the flour seems to work out better.
You want to so this part carefully. Keep folding over the flour until it is completely mixed together.
When this is all done, place a piece of parchment paper onto a cookie sheet. Then you will pour the mixture onto the parchment paper and place in the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. Their recipe actually states to do 10 to 15 minutes. Mine usually isn’t done until about 20 minutes. Of course every oven is different, so I would check the cake at about 12 minutes.
When the cake is just about done take out a dish towel. I like to use one that is not too thick. Sprinkle some powdered sugar onto the towel.
When the cake comes out of the oven flip it onto the towel and peel off the parchment paper.
Starting at one end you will roll the cake up into the towel all the way to the other side and then you will place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
In the meantime…
While the cake is in the fridge, you can make the filling.
take your softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and mix well.
For this next part, I would suggest going to Tasty’ site and watching the video on how to roll the cake. You can do that here.
They have a great video on there. It shows you from start to finish how to do this cake.
Rolling a cake?
This is where my first 2 cakes got messed up. When I would unroll the cake it would separate. So rolling it up with the filling just made a bigger mess. I learned that you have to take your time here.
My first tip is to go-slow. Take the time to be careful. In the video, that you can watch it looks super easy. But if this is your first time TRUST me it’s not so easy. So take your time for sure.
When the cake is rolled out you can now spread on the cream cheese and lay some strawberries.
Here is my second tip. You do not have to put all the filling. The more you put, the harder it will be to roll up. Put a nice amount but you don’t have to use all of it.
After you lay the filling. You are going to roll the cake back up.
Now it is time to eat. Slice and enjoy!!!
This cake is so delightful.
It is so light and yummy. Oh Man! You have to try it.
It’s light, fluffy, and dense at the same time! How’d they come up with this cake?
So, My family loves this cake so much that we have tried a few things.
I tried this with Blueberry cake filling. It was TOO sweet. I think next time if I use blueberries then I am going to try it with real blueberries. Maybe mash them up a little and set them in sugar for a little while. Then place them in the filling.
I also tried this cake with peaches. Peaches and cream cake is sooooo good. You should try this at least once. Make sure you use sweetened peaches. Or real peaches that you let sit in honey or a little sugar. My husband suggests we try it with apples. I don’t know how I feel about that yet, so I haven’t tried it yet. Maybe another time.
There are plenty of strawberry cheesecake recipes out there. But this one by far is the best one out for sure. I haven’t seen very many blueberry cheesecake recipes out there but you can change this one into one.
So, basically, my review of this cake is that it is awesome! I love this cake. I have made it 4 times not and will continue to do so. This cake is tough to make at some parts. But this cake is so worth it. Even when the cake isn’t as pretty as there’s. Like my first one.
First of all, I messed up the measurement because I didn’t read the recipe, I just went off what the video said. But you were actually supposed to use less sugar in the cake itself.
So that cake was REALLY sweet and pretty much in crumbles. The second cake was better. Tonight I made my 4th cake. I will show you the pictures of the 3rd cake I made and the one I made tonight. BIG DIFFERENCE!
Well maybe not a big difference but tonight, my cake definitely came out better.
Just keep trying.
I will definitely come back with some great tries. I love Tasty and will definitely continue to try their recipes. So, please come back. I want to hear your stories. I want to know if there are any other recipes you have tried too.
Just a side note. This cake recipe was seen on
Facebook in one of Tasty’s shared videos. This post is more of a review. For details on how to make the cake you can visit their blog site to get more details on how to make this cake.
